UAE - Mubasher: Dubai's tourism and hospitality sector begins to witness signs of recovery amid a hike in global interests to the emirate since its reopening to international tourists on 7 July, according to Dubai media office.

The sector's rebound is driven by the resumption of flights after being suspended for several months due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Emirates and flydubai are witnessing a rise in bookings, with the first to resume flights to a total of 70 destinations across six continents in August.

flydubai is also set to expand its network to 66 destinations over the summer.

Meanwhile, the number of bookings at Dubai-based Jumeirah has been doubled in the first week following the reopening of the emirate to international tourists, as the number of the registered properties rose by 109%.

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) also announced that Dubai was placed among the top five destinations for internet searches and tourist considerations.

At the same time, a survey by global travel company Kuoni revealed that the UAE is the world's most searched destination for 2021 in 11 countries.

Amid the sector's recovery, the Dubai government has set a number of measures to curb the pandemic while meeting tourist expectations. 

The Director General of Dubai Tourism, Helal Saeed Almarri, said: "In cooperation with key authorities, we mapped out stringent health protocols and precautionary measures that would reassure even the most demanding safety-conscious tourists."
